Our table was ready upon arrival, and we received friendly service. The restaurant layout is not too big and not too small. You don’t feel crowded, and I like that.

I always order a beet salad at restaurants. This one was layered with goat cheese and diced avocado. I would have liked more black volcanic salt and goat cheese, but the homemade sweet potato chips were cooked perfectly and easy to scoop up the beet salad with. It was a refreshing and hearty appetizer.

I talked Katie into splitting both our main courses in half. I just couldn’t go without tasting the brisket burger! You can tell this brisket burger was hand-crafted quality as it lightly fell apart on the first bite. The meat-to-bun ratio was perfect. I asked if they could add bacon (Is it really a burger without bacon?) and they were happy to oblige. Bacon, combined with melty brie cheese, pickled onions, and just the right amount of BBQ sauce, put this burger as one of my favorite burgers of all time!

Cultivate has a classy modern vibe. It feels clean and new. Right away I noticed the seasonal category of main entrees and I’m excited! I love knowing the menu will change based on local ingredients! It reminds me of restaurants where I grew up in Napa Valley, CA. The menu changed according to the harvest season.

My appetizer was the watermelon arugula salad. Large cuts of seedless, ripe crunchy watermelon beautifully plated on top of spicy arugula with a thick spread of whipped ricotta and feta cheeses, and topped off with an aged basaltic vinegar glaze—The PERFECT balance of sweet and savory!

My entree choice was the pan-seared tuna with a light coconut lemon broth, sprinkled with macadamia nuts and a tangy cider slaw. The aroma of lemon and coconut was delightful. The sear on the tuna was spot on—This was summer on a plate!

Summary:

Cultivate struck the perfect balance of everything we love in a dining experience from beginning to end. The environment is elevated and modern, yet comfortable. The appetizers pleased our taste buds with sweet and savory, and the artfully plated entrees that we shared (yes, we do eat first with our eyes) satisfied the craving for both light and refreshing, craveable indulgence.
